Conklin Metal
Industries is a family-owned business servicing the sheet metal and HVAC
industry throughout the southeast. Conklin distributes products such as
sheet metal, duct fabrication supplies, sheet metal machinery and roofing
products. Conklin also manufactures its’ own spiral, snaplock and
double-seam pipe as well as a broad range of standard and customized
fittings and accessories. Over the last ten years, Conklin has
developed a serious interest in technology and employed a variety of
hardware and software products as a means of linking together its four warehouses in Atlanta,
Birmingham, Greenville and Orlando. The problem Conklin encountered, one
encountered by numerous businesses in a wide array of business endeavors, is
the ability to successfully get the various hardware and software elements
to properly work together. To further complicate the situation, Conklin
needed assistance to effectively interact with the numerous hardware and
software vendors and technology product representatives in resolving
technology issues. When requesting support from a vendor, Conklin was
typically informed, “it’s the other guy’s product that is
causing the problem.”
Conklin wanted a means of streamlining its technology and a more efficient
way of communicating with its technology providers. After meeting with
RoseBud in March 2001, Conklin engaged RoseBud to address its technology
concerns. RoseBud installed Microsoft Small Business Server, thereby
simplifying the environment so that the multiplicity of vendors issue would
be eliminated. The sales offices are now linked to the system so that
inter-office communications and data transmissions are now significantly
improved. The systems all work as they should and the company’s technology
has moved to the background so that Conklin can focus on its business and
not its technology issues.
Most important for Conklin is the ability to have RoseBud Technologies act
on its behalf in interactions with Conklin’s technology vendors and
providers. Effectively, RoseBud Technologies is the information technology
department of Conklin. RoseBud operates within the Conklin budget and
interacts with numerous technology vendors, telecom providers and internet
service providers on Conklin’s behalf. |
