How Smart Is Your Smart Phone? Meet Windows Phone
Cell phones have taken an amazing journey over the years. From bag phones to flip phones and now smart phones. Complete with HD cameras, video, navigation, web access, Facebook…..and they make phone calls too! Smart phones have been amazing devices for personal use, but they are evolving to meet the needs and expectations of businesses.
The cellular market was taken by storm with the iPhone back in 2007. The Windows phones have been slow to market, but are gaining traction and have numerous advantages over other operating systems. A recent paper shows that Windows Phone is proving to be security focused. “Windows Phone dodges Black Hat 2012 bullet – other smart phones not so lucky.” Click here to read the article.
View, create and edit office documents on your phone. The Windows phones not only come with the full version of Office installed, but check out this list of INCLUDED features. Notice, I said features and not apps.
* Turn-by turn navigation * Secure “wallet” * Newer/faster browser IE 10 * Resizable live tiles * 720 X 1280 screen resolution * Larger screens and multiple handset options * Skype video calls * Speech recognition* Language translation
Many of these features are built into the phone or its components. This equates to the user not having to find an app to use all of these functions. This reduces the number of apps the owner has to browse through and speeds up the ability to use the function. For example, when you want to take a picture, simply press the picture button on the phone and the camera opens. Users don’t have to sort through multiple pages of apps, or multiple folders where that app was stored. One button and the camera is on. It’s little time saving, less search functionality like this, found throughout the phone’s O/S that have won me over.
Whether for work or personal use, Windows Phone is designed to help users be productive right out of the box. IT people will value the flexibility of integrating with Exchange, Share Point and Lync or Office 365. By using Windows Phone 7, users no longer have to choose between a mobile phone with business functions like email and calendar capabilities and one with consumer features like a camera, texting, or an intuitive, fun-to-use interface.
If you have any questions regarding Windows Phones, the entire staff at RoseBud carries one, or the Microsoft store at Lenox Mall has a knowledgeable staff always willing to help. RoseBud is planning some 2012 4th quarter and numerous 2013 events to be held at the Microsoft store located in Lenox mall. While in the Microsoft store, be sure to ask if they have any promotions for Windows Phones. Many of the folks on staff with RoseBud came about our Windows phones through the ‘Smoke Your Phone’ promotion. Read about that promotion here.
